PT Kaltim Prima Coal (KPC) operates a coat mine in Sangatta East Kalimantan and is one of the largest export coat mines in the world. Coal Production target for 2008 is 46 mtpa and plan are underway for further expansion in 2009 and beyond to bring optimum economic return to the company and its stakeholder.

Vacancies exist for the position of:

MINE PLANNING MANAGER

Key elements of the position include:
• Plan, develop and implement the Departments annual business plan and budget.
• Coordinate work priorities and meet goals and objectives within time, safety and cost guidelines.
• Keep up to date with work issues, monitor the effectiveness of the department and the employees/tool used maximize efficiencies and recommend improvements.
• Negotiate with supplier and consultants to secure equipment and services with cost; quantify and KPC standards.

Qualifications:
• Tertiary qualification (S1 degree) in Mining Engineering with 10 years extensive experience and proven skills in mine planning, in particular involving open cut coal mining operations and long term strategic analysis.
• Analytical, Problem Solving, Leadership, Negotiation and Influencing and presentation skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (oral & written) in both bahasa Indonesia and English.
• Knowledge and exposure to a range of strategic planning techniques and the tools to translate those ideas into reality.
• Strong people management skill, ideally with training and supervision.
• Good grasp of engineering and economic principles.

MINING ENGINEER

Key elements of the position include:
• Undertake short and long term production and financial planning to determine the resources required to operate the Pit, manage operating cost within budget, identify key issues and satisfy production goals.
• Support daily technical aspect of the Pit operation such as shot and long term planning, blast design, drainage and road to assist in achieving agreed coal production targets.
• Undertake environmental rehabilitation and design process as an integral part of both short and long term planning in line with PC s environmental policy.
• Monitor the mining operation such that survey and geological control is provided, to identify problems that may call for a revision of the plan and to ensure that operation understand the plan.
• Evaluate equipment performance by means of field studies and analyzing production report.
• Produce reports of the result for dissemination throughout the Mining Operation Division to enable a common approach and understanding to be gained.

Qualifications and Experience:
• Tertiary qualification (S1 degree) in Mining Engineering.
• Minimum 2 years experience in open cut mining operation.
• Thorough knowledge of Pit production activities and equipment, pit technical and pit maintenance process, procedures and activities.
• Good knowledge of coal mining terminology
• Exceptional skills in Minex mine planning software.
• Good interpersonal & communication skill in both Bahasa Indonesia and English.
